On July 12th, my big brother, Jeremy (aka "Boo Boo"), returned home from his second tour of duty in Iraq. I was unable to be at his homecoming as I had to work. I was happy to see that everyone else was there to welcome him home. A special thanks to my uncle Roger as he filmed it and I was able to view the entire homecoming; a real tear jerker.
Thank you Jeremy for serving our country. I am so, so, proud of you. I happy that you are safe at home. I love you big brother...,

After a long discussion with two physical therapists (one saying yes and the other saying no, to wait until AFTER she is walking) and with helpful advice from people on the downsyn.com forum, we decided to have Molly fitted for orthotics. I wasn't really convinced that she needed them but since they were covered by insurance (at $1500--Wow!), we thought we would give it a try. I am still not convinced that they are helping her. You see, Molly has been "very close" to taking her first steps for many months now (per her MD's and PT) and I thought for sure she would be independently walking by the 4th of July. Well, if any of you share the life a DS child, you know they will do things when they are good and ready. (We worked with Molly with crawling for the longest time and then one day, she just took off across the room. Like she was doing it in private and playing it over and over again in her mind until she decided to make her debut).
At any rate, the last 2-3 weeks, she has started to stand independently, sometimes with the support of a couch or wall behind her. When PT was here Wednesday, she took 2 1/2 step towards Joy!! I was soooo excited! That was the first time she took big girl steps all by herself. She is so proud of herself, too! She lands on her butt and claps and says "yeah". She is so darn sweet... Here are some recent pictures of her "Independence" and one with her favorite PT toy the glass bowl. She LOVES it!!
Well, I survived another trip to Valleyfair with my eldest, Austin. We left at 0730 and arrived back at home at 0030 last night. It was a perfect day! It was hot and sunny until about 3pm, then a nice cloud cover rolled on in to make the second half of the day bearable. My friend, Krin, came with me and we sat in the pool area from 1100-1500. It was peaceful and wonderful. However, back on the home front, not so much. My sister watched the three youngest and the house was nothing but peaceful--Ha! Ha! Maggie smeared poop (again!) all over her crib for Carie to clean up and Gavin thought he would pee right in the garage--what???!! Ugh! My poor sister. Thank you, thhank you, thank you Carie!!! You were my night and shining armor. I needed the break! We are leaving for Rick and Sarah's cabin on Sunday afternoon for a few days. A home away from home. Not sure if it will really be a "vacation" but memories will be made at any rate.

This past weekend, Grandma Pam and Grandpa Mark took Austin and Gavin to Duluth for the Air show. It took Austin a lot of convincing to go and now! He can't stop talking about how awsome it was. Of course, they were spoiled with T-shirts and toy airplanes that they won't put down now. When Gavin got home, I asked him if he went swimming in the pool at the hotel and he says, "Ummm, yeah. (sigh), they only had 3 pools and 2 hot tubs. No waterslides! Can you believe that, mom?" All I could do was laugh as the only TWO times we stayed in a hotel was at Wisconsin Dells and the mini waterpark hotel in Brainerd.
Why start blogging? I discovered this a while back and found that I really tru;y enjoy reading about peoples families and thoughts on life. Well, my life is crazy busy with working full time and having four children and a husband, I find it hard to keep in touch with everyone that I want and need to so I thought this would be the perfect solution. I want to share some of the funny, sometimes stressful, crazy things that happen in my day to day life of being a mother, wife, and friend. I warn you, I am not big on computers, in fact, I get by on knowing the basics so my BLOG will be very basic and to the point. I hope you enjoy....
